BANGKOK: — Starting as of Tuesday June 2, senders of parcels through the Thai post office are required to show their ID cards or passports if they are foreigners otherwise the parcels will not be accepted for delivery.

Mrs Waraporn Chaitiamwong, manager of organizational communications of the Thai Postal Service Company, said that the new measure was a follow-up response to the announcements of the Prime Minister’s Office to stem the use of postal services such as parcels for drugs smuggling.

The announcements make it mandatory for senders of parcels to show their ID cards or passports to officials at the postal counters so their personal information will be recorded.
